If it had been a poem I would have ended it much sooner as well Nancy. ππ₯ It seems delusional, as though nothing has been learnt from the past 7 months at all, a complete disconnect with how a considerable number of formerly enthusiastic Medium writers feel, and an apparent complete lack of concern about this or the impact on us!
Iβve been on medium for quite a while, but I go through spurts. And since I just started with sub stack, I still canβt give a qualified answer to what I like better I donβt like. I havenβt even gotten to the point where I make much money on any of these, but I do hope to get some paid subscriptions here one of these days. I just have to figure out what I can offer extra for those. But interesting to hear about medium thatβs kind of sad. I like medium, but I think I like Substack better! No waitβ¦
It is a huge shame Mary, what has happened at Medium. The writer community has been brilliant, but there seems to have been a breakdown in mutual respect betwen many writers and the platform and it has suffered hugely for this. It feels disloyal to virtually abandon Medium, but it is now paying cents for many articles that would have earned a reasonable number of dollars. I know money is not everything but it seems unfair to move the goalposts to the extent they have without consultation or warning! π
Those posts have a weird desperation to them, don't they?
I was looking for traffic data on Medium vs Substack and found an article on Medium that stated Substack beat out Medium for traffic a few months ago.
Medium's continuation is good for everyone, but the platform feels quite dead at the moment. The replies to both posts were vaguely positive AI comments and politely detailed criticism. Very odd.
I found his post enlightening, but when I thanked him for the truth, at last, he still said they hadn't cut writers pay. They'd just distributed to more of what the readers want - if true, someone in tech writing is getting very rich! I find it difficult to believe.
Thanks Shlee. I am quite late in shifting away from Medium but in the circumstances it is hard to justify staying there unless there is a major reboot. Substack seems good - I was a bit wary over the moderation issue but seems good so far. π
βIt strikes me as one of the longest suicide notes in historyβ

I couldnβt even get through it. I just skimmed it. See, if it had been a poem it would have ended much sooner.

Not paying your suppliers. Perfect analogy.
Thanks Robert. Almost wilfully upsetting your most enthusiastic and loyal customers is not usually seen as good business practice m!π
Brilliant. Enjoyed this one.
I'd love to see it published on Medium, just so I can imagine Stubblebine secretly reading it in the dark.
Saying all that, Substack doesn't pay at all - two subscribers do, but I'm not sure I'm convinced this is a better option. Yet.
Very true Susie - sometimes there are limited options!π

Keep banging the drum, my friend.
Thanks Mary! ππ₯

Even though I have been there for a short while, I am gonna say no.
Ahh those links! Yes, I know. Iβll text you in a moment. :D
